Little Maggie had just woken up from a nap. Her blue eyes were sleepy and her hair was a mess. Sometimes, I think that’s when they look most precious. But as she gradually woke up and adjusted to her new tropical surroundings, the joy started to shine through. She began smiling at everything. I squeezed her little fingers and toes and told her how cute and sweet she was. (Which she clearly already knew, as I’m sure everyone who meets her tells her the same). And she flashed a huge, giggly grin. Her Mom and Dad, sang to her and she flashed the same smile. She even seemed to smiled at the palm trees and the waves as if to say hello. She was simply a little bundle of joy.
Waimanalo Beach was a bit windy and chilly with more clouds in the sky than you care to see when you’re in Hawaii. But that didn’t stop these three from having a blast on their family vacation. I’ve never heard so much laughter, singing, and pure joy coming from such a small family. These islands tend to bring out a feeling in people that is hard to find anywhere else. The sound of the waves and the feel of the sand between your toes creates a vibe that’s impossible to ignore. Luckily these three have family in Hawaii, so that feeling isn’t too far out of reach. (Just imagine the envy when the guy your dating tells you he has family in Hawaii and has visited close to 50 times). Maryland is far, but the trip is well worth it. I think little Maggie would agree.
Stephanie and Daniel, you and your little one are such a joy to be around. These are the moments that will fly by. Someday, memories from ‘Maggie’s first trip to Hawaii’ will be timeless stories told around the dinner table or at her birthday when she turns 16. These are the years that you’ll look back on with so much love and fondness. I can’t express how honored I am to be able to capture them for you. Thank you for making my job so full of joy. And thank you for allowing me to catch a glimpse of your sweet family’s story.
