Kevin swayed back and forth as he waited for Kerri to come around the corner. He was quite literally overflowing with anticipation and excitement. He couldn’t stand still. Couldn’t stop smiling. And could barely hold back the tears. His eyes were glued to the end of that aisle.
Their parents came and sat down. The bridesmaids and groomsmen came down in pairs. The flower girl came down looking as shy and sweet as ever. And then it was Kerri’s turn. The guests all stood and the barn doors opened. Only the barn was about 100 yards away, and the guests all stood in Kevin’s line of sight.
So the anticipation built just a minute longer…. And it was so worth it.
Kerri rounded the curve of the aisle to reach the end of the seats, and they finally locked eyes. It was the perfect moment.
And it was made even more perfect by the fact that this was happening at the intended ceremony site. You see, just an hour earlier the ceremony was all set and ready to go inside the barn’s reception space. Nothing less than a torrential downpour had just swept across North Texas. And we all thought there was no way Kerri and Kevin would be tying the knot outdoors. It seemed they would be forced to settle for less than ideal.
Then, just an hour before the ceremony, the bridesmaids were all outside taking portraits when Kerri stopped and said, “It’s so beautiful right now… I want to get married out here! Can we make it happen??” And 30 minutes later (thanks to an incredible coordinator, venue staff, and five helpful groomsmen) the ceremony site was set and ready.
The rest of the day was filled with more perfect moments just like these… It seemed there was definitely someone smiling down from above on our lovely bride and groom. After all, they say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day, right?
