Almost a year ago… That’s how long ago Katie and I started dreaming about this session. You see we go way back, the two of us. Back almost 20 years. (Yes, we’re getting old). Back to a very happy childhood of community theater, wonderful friends, family, and sweet memories. We remained friends all the way through high school, after which life carried us in different directions as it tends to do.

But as fate would have it, last year I got a surprise text from this sweet girl. I had just moved to Hawaii when we started chatting about and dreaming up an anniversary session for her and her husband Andrew in Texas. We weren’t sure how it would work with me being thousands of miles away. But we knew we would make it happen. One way or another.

Good timing seemed to pass us by for almost a year. Then around the time I found out I was moving back to Texas, Katie and Andrew found out they were moving to Kentucky! So a session in Kentucky was on the table for a little while until we finally settled on the next best thing. They came in town on a work trip a few weeks after I moved back home. And we FINALLY had our date set, and our location decided on (which could have almost passed as the Kentucky countryside).

Penn Farm in Cedar Hill State Park was the incredible setting of this long-awaited session. Although threatening rain clouds, wet grass, and crazy ants tried to ruin our fun, we finally made it happen. And it couldn’t have been more perfect. Katie and Andrew were the cutest, most adorable couple to photograph. I feel so, so honored to be able to capture such a beautiful chapter in their love story.

Katie, it meant so much to me to reconnect with you. It’s funny how life can carry two people apart and then bring them back together as if nothing had ever changed. I love seeing the adventure that life has taken you on, and watching you grow right along with it. Although I only just met Andrew, I can tell that you found yourself a truly wonderful man. It’s such a blessing to see you so happy and full of life, as you always were. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this. I hope these photos help you treasure this incredible time in your lives. Love you to pieces, girly!
