Molly and her sweet little boy Cohen joined me at Bob Jones Nature Center on a beautiful late summer evening. To my delight, what started out as a simple photoshoot ended as a determined quest for cows….
Like most three-year-old boys, he was a somewhat camera shy and not entirely sure what was going on. Since there was a barn nearby, I began asking him what kind of animals live in a barn. He informed me that cows live in a barn and then proceeded to give me his best impression of what sound they made (which was spot on I might add).
He didn’t seem to have any interest in the camera, but he did seem to have an interest in cows… So I suggested that we walk over to the barn and see if there were any cows in there. (Along the way, I was able to get some precious candid photos of him walking hand in hand with his momma). Sadly, there were not any cows in the barn. But the little adventure worked out so well, I suggested we walk over to another area of the Nature Center and see if there were any cows over there (which produced another sweet set of images). At this point, he was invested in finding the cows… And so we proceeded to wonder around the nature center, checking every little picturesque spot for some cows.
To Cohen’s great disappointment, we hadn’t found any cows by the time we reached the end of our session. But on the road leading out of the nature center, I spotted a cow standing right by the fence and they were able to stop and see him! And so, Cohen’s quest for cows ended in a great triumph (as did my quest for capturing precious images of him and his momma).
Molly, thank you so much for giving me the honor of documenting these sweet moments with your little boy. It’s the small adventures like these that are so fun to see through a child’s eyes. I had so much fun getting to know you two and capturing the love between a mother and her son. I hope these memories bring you and Cohen so much joy for years and years to come.
