Dear Best Friend,

 

For years I’ve had the privilege of witnessing first-hand what an incredible friend you are. You’re loyal, kind, caring, thoughtful, loving, funny, devoted, and you give so much of your time and heart into those that you love. For almost 20 years now I’ve been blessed enough to be on the receiving end of that love. And I’m so lucky to have grown up with, quite literally, the best friend anyone could ever ask for. You’ve been by my side through all of life’s ups and downs, and I’m so beyond grateful for you.

For years I’ve prayed for someone that would recognize those qualities about you, realize how rare they are, and never take you for granted. Someone who would happily return the love and devotion you give to them a million times over. Someone who would treat you like the queen that you are. Someone who would finally be the man that you have always deserved.

Then Austin walked into your life… From the day you met him, you couldn’t talk about him without a huge smile plastered all over your face. I wasn’t sure if you’d ever find anyone that could match your quick wit, sass, and sarcasm, but he rose to that challenge very quickly (and I think he may have won?). Years later, you still can’t wipe that smile off your face when you talk about him. He makes you laugh, brings you joy, lightens the mood of every room, and never lets life get too serious. A quality that will be so valuable as you walk through the valleys of life together.

But more importantly, Austin sees you for the incredible woman you are. The woman that I’ve had the privilege of watching you grow into since we were little kids. I know he sees that in you because it’s in everything he does. The way he talks to you, the way he talks about you, the way he looks at you, and the way he loves and respects you. (And don’t worry, if he ever forgets I’ll be there to remind him). He meets every expectation I ever had for you, and I’m so happy you found each other.

Photographing your proposal was so special for me… Trying to sneak around you to plan it was not easy, seeing as you’re one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. But Austin managed to pull it all off and catch you by surprise. Seeing how nervous Austin was before you arrived just solidified my confidence in him. Not to mention that speech he gave you before he got down on one knee… (I tried to keep it together as best I could behind my camera, but it was just too sweet!). I’m so glad I was able to be there to witness the smile on your face after he slipped that beautiful ring on your finger. And so honored to be able to capture this incredible milestone in your life.

I love seeing you this happy. I have full faith that you two can make it through anything together, and I cannot wait to watch you grow in your love for each other as you start a life and a family together. I know I have to share you now, but you will ALWAYS AND FOREVER be my best friend and my other sister. I love you so much, Nikki! Congratulations to the future Mr. & Mrs. Valente!!
