This particular engagement session might just be my favorite one yet….
You see, Mackenzie and I go way back to first grade. I’m talking birthday parties at Chuck E Cheese’s, sleepovers with pizza and coke floats, and gossiping about boys that gave you a hug in between homeroom and science class. We share the same roots, and I think that’s a bond that never really goes away. I am so, so grateful for a friendship like that.
When we hit 7th grade, we were opened up to a whole new world – junior high school. There were new subjects to take, new sports to play, new drama to hear, and most importantly – new boys to meet. That’s when Mackenzie met Jeremy…
In junior high, dating pretty much looked like this: You passed love notes to each other in the hallways between class (the girls always came up with intricate ways to fold them, of course). You texted each other until midnight on your brand new Razr that your parents finally let you have. You got dropped off at the movie theatre or the mall for date night. And the end goal was for him to ask you to homecoming dance.
When you’re that young, it’s hard to see passed the end of the summer, let alone the end of the decade. When Mackenzie and Jeremy were dancing at homecoming, I wonder if they knew they would be dancing at their wedding someday.
A person changes a lot from junior high, to high school, to college, and through their 20’s. When these two had made it all the way through college, we all knew this was something really special. Something so rare it’s almost impossible to find. You know, that can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach for the stars over the fence, world series kind of love… To share those years and that history with the person who you’re going to be sharing your whole life with is truly unique and incredible.
Mackenzie and Jeremy, I feel so lucky to have watched your relationship grow from a junior high couple to a bride and groom. I’ve never known Mackenzie to be happier than when she’s with you, Jeremy. You two have something so rare, and I know you’ll hold on to that and never let it go. I feel so incredibly honored to be the one that gets to capture your wedding day. I definitely can’t promise that I’ll make it through without some tears, but I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Thank you so much for choosing me. I am so over-the-moon happy for you two, and I cannot wait to celebrate next summer. I love you guys! Congratulations on your engagement!!
